Description

ADXcellence: Power Trend Strategies is the definitive and only complete work on the subject. Shows specific trading strategies including how to find attractive trading opportunities, enter and exit trades. A one-of-a-kind masterpiece that no serious technical trader of stock or futures should be without.

Author’s Introduction:

The book is constructed into four sections. Section One is an in depth look at both ADX and DMI. I will present new concepts and terminology to help the trader understand and interpret trading signals. For anyone familiar with ADX, you will find I have greatly expanded on the traditional concepts. Section Two will cover essential material for understanding how ADX/DMI is applied in the context of basic technical analysis. ADX is a trend indicator, and trend structure is a key to finding the best trading signals. I will also discuss ADX/DMI momentum, and volatility.

In Section Three, I present my power trend principles and trading signals used with ADX/DMI strategies. I detail four basic strategies for trading breakouts and trend continuation patterns. Finally, in Section Four, I integrate the power trend strategies in the context of multiple timeframes. There are two more excellent strategies given to take advantage of dual timeframes.

All of the strategies use price and ADX/DMI to find low risk, high probability entries into trending stocks. Numerous chart examples will be given for the trader to study. ADX/DMI applies to all types of markets, and though the book will make reference to mainly stocks, the same principles apply to options, futures, commodities, and currencies. In each chapter, I highlight my ADX and DMI trading rules. The rules represent anchor points for understanding and using ADX/DMI, but they are guidelines only. The trader must always trade on price first, and indicators second. The rules are a handy shortcut to the key concepts and important information.

Excellently written book with lots of charts and clear, concise explanations. Very helpful! If you use ADX/DMI indicators this is the book for you. Complete with helpful trading stategies and lots of information.

I highly recommend this book for traders. Those who don’t currently use the ADX indicator will have their eyes opened to how it will help their stock selection, and those who already use it will undoubtedly learn nuances that will change the way they view the indicator. Make no mistake, it is no Holy Grail (nor is it billed as such in the book), but it is a very useful addition, particularly in screening for new long/short candidates. As for the price, yes it is ridiculously priced, but for those who can’t afford it you can occasionally find a used copy on ebay, and for those who can, consider it an investment that will pay high dividends in the future.

    Very good book

The world of trading is the essence of dealing with perpetual fluctuations. When dealing with disciplines that are in a constant variable state, the only way I can see to do this, is to approach it from a fixed set of guidelines and not based off whichever way the winds are blowing today. This book will help you to set the sails rather than be adrift constantly by the gales set off by the various trade winds of the many markets in play from one moment to the next, adXcellence devotee

I agree with the reviewer who said they would not let the book out of their sight. I also have Murphy’s book on Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets, and ADXcellence gets ten times the use. There are many, many charts which clearly demonstrate his points. My book is beginning to fall apart from use. You can also find many charts and lessons for free on their websites.

Dear readers – like many of you I have several dozen books on trading, ranging from psychology to technical and market analysis and systems development. However, the most valuable book I’ve found is this beauty, as it contains the most succinct and straightforward discussion of price movement analysis. Even if you ignore the new applications of ADX and DMI, the basics are all here, applicable to all trading approaches, reminding all traders that the greatest profits in any market are found within a trend. This book is suitable for novice and advanced traders alike, and will reward close and careful reading as there is no “fluff.” I’m still learning from it. I highly recommend the author’s accompanying websites: adxcellence.com and traderdoc.com

If you aspire to trade trends, this book is indispensable. It’s chock full of essential information, available nowhere else. It will pay for itself on the first trade. The chapter on momentum alone is worth the price of the book.

Out of the hundreds of books I read on stock trading, this one seems to be a real winner.

Great book about subject. Good tips about trading ideas. But to +-DI indicator, I use setup 8, like ADX setting.

  10. Caiden Moon (verified owner)

The book presents the ADX as a super indicator that can help identify market direction and trigger entries and exits. Like any indicator, ADX is only a derivative of the price action without taking into account price volatility (intraday, overnight, daily), volume, earning calendar, etc. In general, making predictions on market direction would result in losses 50% of the time (it is a “Radom Walk” after all…) at best, not including transaction costs. Also, the focus on the entry setups is misleading; money is made or lost at the exit, not the entry. In other words, instead of spending time in picking an entry setup, the focus should be shifted to exit strategies (and not primarily based on an indicator).

Am from Kuwait, I’ve really enjoyed the ride with the author. He really did a great job. I’ve never read such useful and practical technical analysis book like this one. The way the writer did his work made me trading as pro upgrading me to become so confidence in my trading. I prefer the long term trading, and this is what I was looking for. However, all time frames are doable in this book for short term trader they can apply the techniques smoothly.

Don’t listen to the person that only gave one * to this book, every 290 pages are worth in this book. If you are serious investor or want to become one, well it is all up to your actions, but this book and Dr. Schaaps wonderful educations will guide you to that. I’ve read this book twice already and it is the best book about ADX/DMI and trending strategies
