Trend Forecasting with Technical Analysis explores the application of intermarket analysis, which analyzes the relationships between financial markets and their influences on each other. It examines the critical role that intermarket analysis plays in assisting traders to identify and anticipate changes in market direction in today’s globally interconnected financial markets.
Introduction:
The technical focus of this book’s presentation is on how intermarket analysis, through the application of neural networks, can be used to forecast moving averages, making them a leading rather than a lagging technical indicator. Chapter 1 discusses the globalization of the financial markets and outlines some of the major factors that are responsible for the emergence of the global economy.Chapter 2 highlights the limitations of traditional technical analysis methods, particularly the emphasis on single-market analysis and the reliance upon lagging trend-following indicators.
Chapter 3 examines intermarket analysis as a logical extension of technical analysis and offers various ways that intermarket analysis can be used by traders to seize trading opportunities that other traders miss. Chapter 4 explains the strengths and weaknesses of traditional moving averages, and shows how trend forecasting, by using neural networks applied to intermarket data, outperforms trend following.
Chapter 5 describes VantagePoint’s market forecasting capabilities. This chapter also presents various market timing trading strategies utilizing predicted moving averages, which can be used by both day traders and position traders. Chapter 6 looks at the application of neural networks to intermarket analysis and briefly outlines the basics of neural networks and how they can benefit traders in today’s global markets.
Chapter 7 discusses the evolution of financial market analysis in the first decades of the 21st century. It suggests a comprehensive approach that I call “synergistic market analysis,” which combines technical, intermarket and fundamental data into one framework for the purpose of analysis and forecasting.
In summary, Trend Forecasting with Technical Analysis discusses the globalization of the world’s financial markets and the application of intermarket analysis in developing and implementing powerful trend forecasting and market timing trading strategies in the equity, options, derivative and futures markets.

Trend Forecasting with Technical Analysis: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Intermarket Analysis to Beat the Market By Louis B. Mendelsohn pdf

I was extremely disappointed with this book. It is a marketing piece designed to look like a reference book. It was designed to sell the author’s software. As another reader wrote, there is absolutely no valuable information in this book. I contacted the online trading books company I bought this from, it was not Amazon, and asked for my money back. Of course they said ‘No’, leaving me feeling like I had been stung. There are a lot of books in this ‘Trade Secrets Series’ that do contain valuable information; unfortunately this isn’t one of them. Shame on the author and publisher.

I think it’s safe to say that there is absolutely no useful information in this book. The author should be ashamed of himself for selling it. At best it should be considered a thick brochure for his product and given away for free. It’s not even worth the postage. Mr. Mendelson must think the public are idiots. This book is a dishonor to John Murphy who presents good information throughout his own books. I am stunned that Mr. Murphy is happy to have his name this book. John, what were you thinking?

The book title and description are misleading. They imply that this “book”, which is really an ad pamphlet for the author’s software, will teach the reader even a little about “technical analysis” and “intermarket analysis”. While these phrases are used liberally throughout this ad pamphlet, the author only says that the detailed analyses are performed in a software package that he wrote, the name of which he uses just as liberally but one I won’t mention since the dishonest nature of this book’s title and description give me an idea of what the author and his software must be like.
I truly regret wasting the time to read it and wonder if I can seek compensation from the author for the time I wasted to read it. Unfortunately, there is no rating of negative stars allowed.

An interesting introduction to Intermarket Technical Analysis and ways to use the Vantage Point software.

I actually thank my lucky stars for this book. I am both a futures and forex trader, and have been for years. I tried taking every angle possible in the markets and spent a lot of money in the process. My biggest wastes of time were WiseTrade and 4x Made easy. What a bunch of CRAP. Both are better at collecting dust than anything else, but alas I am on of those “holy Grail” seekers as they say (or at least anything worth a damn). Mendelsohn is the only person I know of that has spent his life figuring out how to factor market relationships into trading, so I figured I could lend the time to read his book. I ended up giving a copy to a friend of mine who was much less inclined to invest in another software program (we are in tandom throughout our search). All I can say is “what a relief!” We took a final leap of faith with Mendelsohn, mainly because he is so credible. He has been around for 26 years and my only mistake is not giving his work a try earlier. I am currenly at a 78% accuracy rating. Do yourself a favor and pay the $13 for this book. What happens from there is up to you.

I bought this book because I read about Lou Mendelsohn in a piece that John Murphy wrote recommending Mendelsohn’s work. It is true that this book is somewhat of an ad for his software, but it has some great information in it and from what I understand, it was written with the intention of being a guide to trading with his software anyways. I have been trading for close to 15 years now and both of these guys go back before my days of starting out fresh in the markets, even before. The test of time is the hardest challenge to overcome and these guys have been in it for 25+ years. Anyways, I bought this book and was so interested in what Lou had to say I did some research of my own. This guy knows what he is talking about. After some careful research and about a week of discussion with one of the sales people (including his son who now runs the business) I decided to try it out. It was the best thing I ever did! I have had the software for about 6 months now and all I can say is I am up more in 6 months than I was in all of 2003! I am a member of a small group of traders and we all have his program (you can get a discount rate if you press for it). I definitely recommend reading his book at the very least. From what I understand he has written few of them.
