Description

I believe you will find Investing by the Stars to be an eye-opening exploration of the financial markets. You may discover new market mechanisms and helpful guidelines for creating and preserving wealth. Readers technically inclined will acquire a few new astrology tools to throw into their technical grab bag. Financial astrology can provide you with not only a unique perspective on markets, but also an important edge in choosing the right time to act.

Introduction:

Today it is an open secret on Wall Street that astrology is “hot”, especially since the 1987 crash had been predicted by a number of astrologers. Similar to the technical analysis of 30 years ago, it has yet to achieve maninstream acceptance. Yet some of the most successful traders use it. Many wealthy financiers employ astrological advisors. They know from experience that consulting financial astrologers can help make them money.

Market professionals, investors, analysts and traders, as well as financial astrologers, find that knowledge of astrology- i.e., Psychology and timing- is as important as technical and fundamental analysis in forecasting market behavior. Please ponder the following five points:

  • 1. Astrology is more than one-half the market. Of the five major potentially knowable factors that influence markets, Fundamental Analysis, Technical Analysis, Market Timing, Market Psychology, and Geopolitical Events, astrological input is needed to calculate and successfully forecast the latter three’s influences.
  • 2. Astrology is a mathematical psychology based on astronomy. Astrology is a mathematical discipline, offering investors the option of charting not only cycles and market psychology, but also unique cosmic/terrestrial events. Astrology not only measures cycles and unique events, but projects these cycles and unique events in advance.
  • 3. Astrology can be a telescope and/or microscope. Financial astrologers chart both intermediate and long-range trends, as well as forec ast short-term and intraday market moves.
  • 4. Markets have horoscopes. Countries, stocks, investors, and financial advisors.
  • 5. First rule: Look to your own chart (horoscope). One common denominator of successful traders and investors is that each expresses his or her own unique style. Astrology helps one to discover one’s personal trading/investing style, market affinities, and timing cycles.

Of all the astrology books I’ve read dealing with finance and the markets (around 15 of them), this is the MOST obtuse of them all. The author gives examples of his own successful “predictions,” while ignoring all the failures. It’s as if I went to the racetrack and came back telling you about the horses I picked and money I won, describing my amazing deductions for selecting winners, but neglected to tell you about the losers and the fact that I came away with an empty wallet. Through it all the author’s inflated opinion of himself is made glaringly obvious, which makes the whole reading experience even more annoying, if possible.

Henry Weingarten is quite the character, and he was a fairly big influence on my later career as a trader. When I met him in the late 80’s he was the head of the New York Astrology Center, but he ran a computer consulting service on the side. I was an independent computer consultant/programmer working as a subcontractor. Now here comes the good part…..when I went to my initial interview for a consultant position, instead of looking at my resume for even a second, Henry asked for my birth date and time! He then put the date and time into his computerized astrological program and ran his chart on me. I was amazed and a little amused as Henry and his partner read my chart, and offered me a position. Apparently something they saw in my chart impressed them enough to give me a job….but they wouldn’t tell me what those characteristics were!

Soon after I began working with Henry, I would come into his office each morning, and find him with his portable Quotron attached to his hand, punching in figures and symbols into his computerized astrological-financial program, and barking orders to his broker on the phone! As I worked I made mental notes of Henry’s trades. When I got home at night I would check the WSJ to see how he did. In most of his trading, Henry was doing well. By and large, the stocks he purchased went up and his short calls would usually fall! I started copying some of his long calls on my own, but never in such large quantities. Maybe a hundred or two of Electronic Arts, etc. I don’t know how he did it, but according to my calculations, Henry consistently made money, and therefore I made money as well!

Granted, during the incredible bull run of the 90’s, and before the tech meltdown of 2000, just about EVERY trader was making money! I have not read Henry’s book, and therefore am unable to offer any recommendation, but it seems there is some method to his trading. My advice is watch the technical indicators, keep an eye on overall market sentiment, and develop a strong gut instinct for talented companies. Good luck……

This book was long on “author claims” but very little specific information was discussed on “how” the claims/forecasts were arrived at. As a result, it would likely disappoint novice and accomplished astrologers.

On the other hand, the author does have a “nice writing style” and the topics discussed could be informative reading for the “Wall Street type” as it provides a good overview of the possibilities.

This book promised much and delivered precious little other than the author and his friends blowing their trumpet about how good they are at predictions. What is glaringly missing is the incorrect predictions, how to actually go about it, and why.

In one instance, a guest author commenced to tell about his prediction but was “not a liberty to divulge what was used to do it”.
Why bother telling people if you are not at liberty to tell it all. Sounds like W.D. Gann all over again.

An extremely disappointing book that is not worth the money or the time. Very poor.

Big mistake to buy this book.

In this book one can learn the importance of timing in making financial and business decisions. It is written by an accomplished astrologer who established his reputation by predicting in 1988 the crash of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. He did this by erecting a horoscope for the birth of the country of Japan and that of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Mr. Weingarten has also included in his book articles written by other astrologers who impress us with similar forecast abilities.

INVESTING BY THE STARS is written for the professional astrologer who has some basic knowledge of financial matters. The author stresses also the importance of understanding the investor’s natal chart and accessing his “comfort level” as part of the counseling process.

The principles in this book make for impressing reading. I would highly recommend it to the advanced astrologer who would like to achieve success in investment counseling.

I found the book interesting, you have to understand astrology to make it work. A friend of mine who is an astrologer astrologyguidance com site, has done astrology stock predictions with good results, so the concept works.

  8. Emmalynn Frost (verified owner)

This book consists mainly of the author waxing philosophical about the market and about the increasing use of astrology by investors. He also spends pages gloating about his own accurate predictions. He gives examples of astrology relating to market events, and occasionally you can extract some useful general knowledge from those examples. He does not really offer anything in this book that will help to develop skill with market astrology. He gives no direct instruction. I would like to find a book on market astrology that takes an approach similar to Georgia Stathis’ “Business Astrology 101”. This book just isn’t it.

I certainly haven’t lost any money as some of the reviewers have. After reading the book ages ago I subscribed to Weingarten’s newsletter and have made a decent amount of money. Weingarten has been especially helpful, for me, in identifying companies which I then thoroughly research.

If you’re expecting an “investing made easy” strategy this isn’t it. Investing is difficult and so is astrology. You have to go deeper into both.
