Curtis Arnold’s PPS Trading System was written to give you the opportunity to join an elite group: a small percentage of traders who make money year after year trading futures. That doesn’t mean it will be easy. Trading futures or, more importantly, trading futures profitably is one of the most difficult tasks you will ever undertake.
Introduction:
Any success you achieve will be hard-earned. Sure, it is easy to get lucky; a few winning trades early may make you believe you have the Midas touch. But beginner’s luck never lasts long. And if your hope is to make a significant amount of money-and keep it-you will soon see that serious effort on your part is required. Curtis Arnold’s PPS Trading System is divided into five sections and appendices; it works best if each section is read in order because it progresses from concepts to details and builds upon the knowledge you gain as you go along.
- In Section One is entitled “Laying the Groundwork for Your Trading Success.” you will gain insights into your trading that will break you of bad habits and give you a totally new perspective on your trading.
- In Section Two, “PPS Fast Start,” you will learn a modified version of PPS, designed for the beginning trader. Known as PPS Fast Start, the method is actually a subset of the full PPS Method.
- In Section Three, “Deeper into Pattern Research,” you will learn additional entries that will allow you to trade more aggressively. When you finish this section you will command a thorough knowledge of classical chart patterns, based on never-before-published original research.
- Section Four examines ”Additional Technical and Psychological Considerations.” The technical considerations you will learn are understood by less than 1 percent of the trading public.

Simple and easy trend seeking method for even a beginner. But if you are already a sophisticated chartist or finding some more exciting speculation method, this one will not be for you since it is talking only about the traditional pattern break out and moving average method. However, in the medium to long trend seeking investments, there are always that ‘simple is the best.’

I have been a trader for 23 years and there are three books I always tell people to read before I will talk to them. PPS, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, and a new one, Trend Following by Covel. They don’t have the Golden Mean but they will introduce you to the ideas that will make you a better trader. Read and test before you put your money on the table. Otherwise just go to Vegas, you’ll have more fun there losing your money.
PS in all the years I have been trading only two people have read the books, one is my son!! That should tell you how serious people are about making money.

This is the best book I have read on trading in a long time. I am not sure why it is out of print. The methods are very logical, and Mr Arnold certainly hits on all points salient to trading. I would recommend this book as a must read for anyone interested in trading.

The system is Ok and probably tests out fairly well even today. Like most trend following systems it will have big drawdowns over time, and this is very underplayed in this book. He also has very little diversification which will probably result in worse results.
Most interesting is that the author was eventually sued and proved a fraud in selling false hope systems.
