The Trader’s Pendulum:The Ten Habits of Highly Successful Traders is an honest, educational and most importantly, an enjoyable book to read. Jody Samuels’ style makes concepts understandable. She writes as she speaks: with simplicity and clarity; this comes from her many years of experience turning willing traders into consummate professionals.
Introduction:
The pendulum factors represent duality situations arising from trading the markets. On one end of the pendulum swing there is a condition, and on the other end there is another (often opposing) condition. Ideally, you, as a trader, want to remain or get back to the neutral position because staying at either end can be unproductive. The pendulum swings are typically caused by the constant flux of the market. You can do nothing about the swings of a pendulum, but you need to learn how to ride them as all successful traders do. The lack of skills to weather the swings is what makes trading an emotional-psychological roller-coaster ride for traders. Pendulum factors have three aspects:
- Market Pendulum
- Financial Pendulum
- Emotional Pendulum
The central focus of this book is based on my model of the 10 Habits of Successful Traders. In the following chapters, you will discover the following:
- What the 10 common habits of successful traders are. The simplest way to succeed in trading is to learn from the best and model their habits. This book shows you what successful traders are doing, what you’re not doing, and what you can learn from their habits.
- Why you should practice the 10 common habits. You will find out the benefits of cultivating these habits and how they have helped the top performers to gain financial success, a great sense of achievement, and a well-balanced life.
- How to replace your negative habits with positive habits. When you examine the positive habits of successful traders, you might discover your own negative habits that prevent trading success. Find out how you can replace the negative habits with the positive ones.

Jody’s book ” THE TRADERS PENDULUM” is indeed a book meant for traders at all levels of competences ……everyone will benefit immensely.
The Action points push you to start implementing rather than just reading to become aware.
The trading plan in Chapter 15 surely helps get a better understanding of how to implement the learnings.
Would classify this as a Must Read for all.

A good easy to read/understand practical book to guide, structure and strengthen your forex trading. Jody has pitched the examples using 2 traders with different approaches to trading resulting in differing results. The scenarios make the processes easier to understand (at the side of other similar forex publications) therefore a must read for struggling traders. Jody emphasises the importance of treating trading as a business and offers practical advice and structure along with many bonus resources as you work through the 10 habits

I was lucky enough to meet Jody at a trading conference earlier this year, where she presented an overview of the 10 habits. Her presentation was dynamic and compelling, so much so that I bought the book during her presentation!
The book is an incredible resource for any trader that would like to have a methodical, consistent and repeatable approach to his/her trading.
Jody illustrates her points with the use of stories, examples, personal anecdotes and generally well researched data.
The companion sites, templates and explanations provided make the content immediately actionable and not something “you just read”.
Invest the money, time and effort in your continuing education and you will not regret it!

I do not write many reviews for books or merchandise. In the case of finding one of the best practical know how books of my trading career, I felt compelled to share my experience with the book. Like some of the other comments, I won’t reiterate how much money this book would have saved if I had read it at the beginning of my trading career. Suffice to say, if you are even thinking about getting into trading, if you are an experienced trader looking to sharpen your edge, you must read this book. I found Jody through her website where I leaned the Elliott wavy tunnel system or methodology of trading. That methodology was also a game changer that complements the book. If you don’t investigate, you will be will be without critical knowledge on why the markets move in the manner they do.

This book is the best investment I have made in my trading career. I wish I had read this book when I first began trading as I could have saved myself years of frustration and probably prevented blowing out my trading capital multiple times! The basic premise of the book is that a trader’s emotions swing up and down like the markets and while we might not be able to change how we feel (greed and fear), we can develop habits that counteract destructive trading behaviors. Jody observed other top traders in the industry and developed a specific set of habits that model successful trader behavior. The book provides a step-by-step method of adopting these habits through realistic examples, exercises and plans. It is the only book that I have read that provides the reader with an easy to follow blueprint to become successful at trading by addressing the things that really matter.
The book also provides several bonuses that include a free coaching session, online access to videos and additional great tools like a business plan, trading system rules, workbooks, etc
