George W. Bishop
About the Author
A native New Yorker, George W. Bishop, Jr., received his A.B. at the College of William and Mary, and both his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Business Administration of New York University. In addition to his study of the stock market and financial matters, Dr. Bishop has had considerable practical experience in these fields, gained through his service from 1947 to 1959 as an account executive and portfolio analyst with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith.
At the very beginning of his business career, he became fascinated with Charles H. Dow and the Dow Theory, an interest he has maintained ever since. During both World War II and the Korean conflict, Dr. Bishop saw active duty with the United States Navy, and he is now a Captain in the Naval Reserve. At present, Dr. Bishop is Assistant Professor of Finance at the College of Business Administration of the University of Tennessee.
