Stock Market Strategies That Work by Jake Bernstein is a comprehensive trading manual designed for serious investors who want to achieve consistent profitability in the financial markets. Bernstein, a widely respected trader, analyst, and educator, draws upon decades of market experience to present time-tested strategies that balance technical precision with practical application.
The book is structured to guide readers through both foundational concepts and advanced techniques. Bernstein begins by addressing the critical importance of discipline and mental control, recognizing that psychology is often the decisive factor in trading success. He then moves into an in-depth exploration of technical analysis, emphasizing chart patterns, momentum indicators, seasonal tendencies, and market timing. Rather than overwhelming readers with theory, he distills each method into actionable rules, supported by real-world examples and historical performance data.
A central theme of the book is the need to integrate multiple approaches into a cohesive strategy. Bernstein explains how to combine trend-following with contrarian setups, apply moving averages for precise entry and exit points, and use intermarket relationships to anticipate turning points. He places equal weight on risk management, providing clear guidance on setting protective stops, sizing positions appropriately, and preserving capital in volatile conditions.
What sets this book apart is Bernstein’s ability to cut through market noise. He emphasizes practical strategies that traders can implement immediately, offering insight into both short-term trading opportunities and longer-term investment tactics. His work also highlights the role of cycles in market behavior, giving readers a framework to anticipate price movements and align trades with broader trends.
Whether you are a new trader seeking a structured approach or an experienced market participant aiming to refine your methods, Stock Market Strategies That Work serves as a reliable and enduring resource. Its combination of strategy, psychology, and risk management makes it a cornerstone reference for anyone committed to mastering the art of trading with consistency and confidence.

I read the book and agree with the other reviewer – the book is vague and I got the feeling it is really just a marketing tool to get readers to sign up and pay for their website. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK! The authors talk a good game in the book but lack the information to back it up – the title and info it says it provides is just not there.

This book really is a waste of time. Like all the other reviewers say, it is vague and promises to explain things later then never does. I had a good laugh at the two page chapter on Dollar Cost Averaging that was supposed to be more complete than other books.
I can’t even find most of the methods they describe in their book available on charts on the internet. It’s very frustrating when you’re trying to learn and apply the knowledge, and where the hell is the Moving Average of Highs/Lows????? Bogus!

the advice given is the same you would most likely get for FREE from a friend that has done any stock market investing.

If you have more than a novice understanding of markets, trend following, momentum, etc., this brings nothing to you
If you are a complete beginner it might be worth a read, but pick up Trend Following or surf Google for white papers on momentum

Good job covering several strategies. Chapter11 on discipline is on target.

This is such a great little gem full of great information for trading and investing in stock. I have given this book to many of my friends who are starting out in stock market investing.
