In this powerful and highly practical work, legendary trader Larry Williams reveals the core principles behind identifying stocks poised for immediate, explosive upside movement. Unlike broad investment guides, this book is targeted exclusively toward traders seeking fast, high-probability opportunities, focusing on the conditions that precede rapid price expansion.
Williams breaks down the exact combination of technical triggers, market structure, volume behavior, and fundamental catalysts that signal when a stock is ready to advance sharply. Early chapters (e.g., pages 7–11) emphasize how institutional accumulation, sector momentum, and short-term volatility compression create ideal environments for immediate gains.
Throughout the book, Williams provides charts, examples, and screening rules that allow traders to apply his techniques immediately. He explains pattern recognition, relative strength filtering, price-range breakouts, and the psychological dimensions of selecting stocks under time-pressure trading conditions. Later pages (such as pages 15–23) show annotated charts of real trades, illustrating the exact characteristics that precede substantial advances.
This book is especially valuable for traders seeking a repeatable, practical formula for selecting stocks with the highest likelihood of near-term acceleration. Compact, direct, and filled with actionable insight, it distills the essential elements of Williams’ battle-tested methodology.

A total waste of time. Many better books out there.

Trying to find the indicators was difficult, I mean, putting the info into practical use.

If you’re new to trading or technical analysis, this is a good primer. Much of the information in this book is based on a concept that I had discovered shortly before acquiring this book, that all the technical indicators in the world are so much smoke and mirrors if they don’t factor volume into the equation.
This book was written in an era before home computers and many of the tools we have at our fingertips today. It was also written in an era before the “average” guy could directly control his portfolio in real time. For this reason, a lot of the signals he teaches as buy/sell indicators have been drowned out by increased volume and noise. The computer age has made the market more efficient and faster to react, which has dated his signals on a macro level. Nevertheless, the underlying concepts are sound.

The book is obviously outdated, but you can find very valuable concepts.
It doesn’t matter how many years ago this book was written or if the strategies no longer work. You can still learn a lot. I did.
Very recommended like all Larry’s books.
