Alive and Well with Neptune is a fascinating and fun astrological look at the planet associated with emotional highs and lows, imagination, and deep spiritual yearnings. By understanding what Neptune symbolizes and the spiritual gifts it offers as it moves through your birth chart, you can use its powerful, creative energy in the most beneficial way possible. Upbeat, easy-to-understand, and sprinkled with humor, this comprehensive astrology book features an in-depth analysis of each possible transit and reveals how to use Neptunian energy to: Discover your hidden talents, Be more creative and successful, Successfully navigate life’s challenges and Expand your vision of life and love.
Author’s Note:
One day you open your ephemeris and there it is: transiting Neptune opposing your Moon, taking effect exactly five days ago. “What a coincidence,” you think, as you look down to find that your feet are swollen and you’re feeling nostalgic about the good old days, when you could disco those little feet like crazy all night long. You’ll need to read all about what this transit could mean for you now that things are quite different in your life-see Chapter Nine. In that same chapter, you may also want to read about transiting Neptune going through the Fourth House.
The Moon and the Fourth, along with the sign Cancer, are manifestations of the same life principle-Principle Four-and all share similar themes. There may be a few comments I’ve made about Neptune passing through the Fourth that will supplement what I’ve written regarding Neptune/Moon transits. In addition, think about your natal Neptune’s house position- what I’ve said about this planet’s transit of that same house could give you further insights into some of your natal issues. And please read various planet-to-planet transits to gain an extra understanding of any natal aspects you have involving those same planets.
Don’t be perplexed if what I’ve stated about a specific transit doesn’t completely fit your current life predicament. It would be uncommon if it did. Transits run the gamut in how they actually manifest for us, something that old-time astrologers didn’t suspect to be true, because the range of possible outcomes they envisioned was much more narrow. That gave them the sense of a powerful fate at work having the upper hand. Instead of expecting to read deadly accurate predictions of your personal future events, try to understand the general texture and tone of each transit, and then see how you can custom-tailor the themes to fit your own lifestyle. By keeping all of the above in mind, you should be able to enjoy this book and, hopefully, put what I’ve said to good use.

I don’t understand why this book was well reviewed! I can’t find anything concrete! It’s Liz Green-style psychobabble! Nothing very clear about Neptune’s conjunctions with the other planets, it’s all news, mainly about the transits of the star in houses, you have to read 5 pages of psycho-babble each time to find 5 concrete words!! Ex: Neptun/ Sun Transit (after 2 paragraphs on Uranus! and its effects on the Sun); Neptune recognizes us that ego-awareness is now alive and well only because of the illusionary nature of all manifest existence blame it on Maya demonstrates a universal deception of duality…

Just like “Alive and Well with Pluto” and “Alive and Well with Uranus”, this book is fabulous in its clear writing and in its thoroughness of coverage. As other reviewers have noted, the murky waters of Neptune are the hardest to fathom, but Tierney makes sense for both practicing astrologers and for those undergoing Neptune transits themselves. He takes the reader through Neptune’s transits of houses and planets, explains the themes and suggests ways of navigating them. Indispensable!

Clarifying the meaning and function of astrological Neptune is not dissimilar to trying to converse underwater. You end up with a bunch of bubbles in your face that pop and leave you with nothing. Bil Tierney found a way to have that conversation about this nebulous ruler of the deep and actually give his readers something they can comprehend, keep and apply. He accomplishes this feat by being not only an adept astrologer, but also a masterful story teller.
This energetically written book provides much insightful information about Neptune’s transits. Tierney includes a sometimes amusing review of our natal planets and houses—all from Neptune’s perspective–plus he offers an uncommon way to look at mythological Neptune (especially the stormier side) in his Introduction.
In Part Two, Bil is describing Neptune’s influence in more down-to-earth ways, showing how this planet functions in our day-to-day world.
Tierney’s books reveal he is a deep but practical thinker who is very psychologically astute. And . . (very important to me), he is much fun to read!

Wow! Buy this book! The chapter entitled “A Neptunian Tour of Our Natal Planets” is alone worth the price of the book and your time! Mr. Tierney simply “becomes” the planet he writes about. He brings the ponderous, foggy Neptune into our daily life so that we may effectively access it’s energies and he does so in a manner that I have not experienced in studying any other book on Neptune. There are other excellent books on Neptune and I have read many of them and while Mr. Tierney leaves out none of the features of the other books, he simply relates them more clearly to “this world” and practical every day life.
Readiing this book is like mining for gold….you won’t be sorry you took the time to investigate it’s contents!

Very informative..

I thought this book about Neptune was not as clear as it could be. Lol. I think being immersed in the subject of Neptune affected the writing of it.
The author breaks down Neptune by house and aspect, but I feel the writing trailed off a lot. I like crisp writing–say what you want to say and then stop.
I think this book is of value, however, especially for the beginning astrologer.

Do not be mislead by Bill Tierney’s easy to read and fun style.
He has depth and understanding and brings astrology to our contemporary everyday
life in his several books.
In this one – how ancient (Neptune) archetype might play out in our charts.

The book is clean, the price was acceptable, and overall I recommend this seller as a great seller!

The author gives a lot of useful and in-depth realizations of Neptune but just brushes by one of the areas Neptune is most known for: the spiritual. Neptune doesn’t hold the exclusive on spiritual influence, but is so connected to the spiritual and gifts of the intuitive (clairvoyance, clairaudience, etc)that I would want several instances as well as spiritual perspectives to be included in any work on this planet. Altho’ not comprehensive, it’s a good read and helpful.

I bought this book at the beginning of a Neptune transit to my sun. I read it and loved it for it’s upbeat attitude and humor. There is a lot of good advice here without all the doom and gloom often associated with this watery planet. In fact, Bil Tierney tells the reader that to get the doom and gloom you must look elsewhere since he is focusing on the higher side of Neptune and the often unreported positive effects this planet can have.
Now that the Neptune transit to my sun is about halfway through I am as confused as ever by Neptune but am certainly glad I took the time to read this book at the beginning. It prepared me in many ways and still I am reminded that this planet is bringing out what is truly inside my heart and soul; it’s just that the rest of my life has gotten in the way and has blocked those dreams and aspirations.
Anyone who has a strong natal Neptune or major Neptune transit can certainly benefit from reading this inspired work. And of course practicing astrologers can benefit from a view of Neptune from a loftier place, instead of from the bottom of the ocean where so many of the classical interpretations seem to come from.
