Description

Visual Guide to Chart Patterns is a concise and accessible visual guide to identifying, understanding, and using chart patterns to predict the direction and extent of price moves. Packed with visual learning enhancements and exercises, this innovative book helps savvy investors and professionals alike master the essential skills of chart pattern recognition. Follow along as chart pattern expert Thomas Bulkowski teaches you to recognize important peaks and valleys that form patterns―footprints of the smart money.

Introduction:

Sometimes before I trade, an inner voice speaks to me. Some may call it the voice of experience, but I prefer to call it the voice of knowledge and wisdom. When I have listened to that voice, it has saved me money. One goal of this book is to provide the knowledge so that you can create your own trading voice.  Whether you are a professional trader, money manager, or retired schoolteacher trying to boost the inheritance for the grandchildren, this book is for you.

From the expert to the novice, there is information about chart patterns that you do not know or may have forgotten. This book will provide a visual guide to learning about chart patterns in a manner that is simple and easy to understand. Consider this book an instruction manual for recognizing chart patterns, discovering why they behave as they do, and learning what it means when you see one. You will learn to see not squiggles on price charts, but footprints of the smart money; not a mountain range, but double tops, rectangles, and head-and-shoulders.

The basics come first so that we speak the same language. What you learn in this section may surprise you. The basics provide a foundation for what follows. Then we cover the most important and popular chart patterns. This is where you discover that not every peak or valley is a chart pattern. What to look for and why they form are in this section.

Completing the book are buy and sell signals. I do not offer mechanical trading systems, but visual ones that can help make you money or avoid losing it. When you turn the last page of this book, my hope is that you leave with a greater understanding and knowledge of chart patterns, knowledge that can serve as food for the inner trading voice. Should that voice speak to you, listen. It could save you a bundle. And if you find yourself arguing with that inner voice at the grocery store, then blame me.

This book is a valuable Tool for trading and/or investing…

This is simple to read and understand and a most valuable tool for investing in the stock market these days! You will not only read this book once but you will refer to it as an everyday “guide”…

While I look at stock charts for earnings releases I look for the same style pattern in Visual Guide to Chart Patterns.
From there I go to event patterns and 3 out of 4 have given me good returns using options. This helps assist me in making a final decisions. I count on Tom bulkowski’s Chart Books.

I own most of Thomas Bulkowski’s books, “Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns” and “Encyclopedia of Candlestick Patterns”. As a day trader and chartist (Twitter: @peterghostine), I simply cannot survive without these two indispensable references on my desk. I’m a seasoned Elliott Wave Theory (EWT) practitioner who thouroughly studied and have applied R.N. Elliott’s work for years, as well as Ian Copsey’s more robust form of EWT, knowm as Harmonic Elliott Wave (HEW). I can tell you without hesitation that if you wish to become a successful trader, toss EWT aside and study the chart patterns presented in Thomas Bulkoski’s books. In addition, all of the author’s books are written to keep you entertained while you absorb the invaluable material. He’s an excellent writer, trader, and investor.

Good read for novice and experienced traders. Excellent quality charts with good notation. Bulkowski describes the chart pattern, how to confirm breakouts, and buy/sell signals. Bulkowski also has pointers to explanatory videos on his web site to reinforce the messages in the chart book. A good review and great introduction to chart patterns.

    Fantastic book.

What I most love about this book are test questions after every chapter. That’s exactly what one needs to learn efficiently. I visit Bulkowski website very frequently. There is a lot of free info on the website, but it’s still very handy to have a book with all info perfectly systemised as well. Especially if you like to make remarks in the book like me. There is a lot of empty pages for notes as well, which is very handy for studying. All explanations are very clear, easy to understand. As a bonus, you get links to educational video’s with additional info.

  9. Lauren Peralta (verified owner)

I love this book. It’s great for people new to trading.

  10. Peyton Pittman (verified owner)

    repetitive

  11. Lila Rios (verified owner)

If you like chart patterns, this is OK. THIS IS OK IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING.

  12. Jovanni Sloan (verified owner)

I wanted this book because it was going to have the new percentages for his chart patterns. If you have read his other books you won’t learn anything new here, but the up to date stats makes it worth it.

  13. Selene Coleman (verified owner)

    Great book

  14. Paislee Stanton (verified owner)

Nice book for your trading library. Shows ideal forms and patterns.

  15. Diana Hayes (verified owner)

This book is mainly a compendium of hundreds of stock chart patterns with little in the way of detailed explanation or insight. Perhaps it would be useful for a highly experienced trader. For me, as a beginner, the book is not very helpful.

  16. Zyair Herman (verified owner)

Easy to read and follow visual charting patterns and concepts.

  17. Salvador Baxter (verified owner)

I consider it inadequate and inappropriate because he doesn’t consider high/low shadows at all. I found it to be totally unhelpful.

  18. Dangelo Mann (verified owner)

excellent reading in learning how to read charts if your want to better your trades. this is the book that will help give you an edge in the stock market.

  19. Selena Gutierrez (verified owner)

I am fairly new to trading and this book is an excellent source of information. Lots of colorful diagrams and plenty of examples to learn from.

  20. Jolie Carter (verified owner)

Very comprehensive, clear and concise. This book’s format is the best to learn and understand all the chart patterns. It’s a real pleasure to read this book.

  21. Arabella Fitzgerald (verified owner)

I got this book a couple of weeks ago and love it. If you need simple and easy to understand information on chart patterns I recommend starting with this book. It’s not overloaded with confusing technical jargon. The author writes in such a way that I almost feel like I’m taking a class and the humor sprinkled in here and there is a nice touch. I first stumbled on Thomas Bulkowski’s work 3 years ago after reading and searching everything I could find (not to mention spending hundreds of dollars on books and stock picking systems) and I can honestly say this system of stock picking works far better for me than anything I have tried. I have read and recommend all of his books.

  22. Micah Valdez (verified owner)

Once again Thomas wrote a clear, simple, and helpful book. This book is great for anyone desiring to learn more about chart patterns as well as enhancing professional know-how.
