In Twelve Faces of Saturn you will learn to throw out the portrait of the creepy-looking, scythe-wielding Saturn of centuries past. Twelve Faces of Saturn offers a refreshing new picture of this planet as a friend, not a foe. You will learn that Saturn is actually a key to liberating us from a life lacking clear self-definition.
Author’s Note:
Twelve Faces of Saturn: Your Guardian Angel Planet is about coping with certain realities we all face in life. It’s about growing up in a world where limitations abound and external authorities lay down rules, regulations, standards, procedures, or whatever else it takes to keep billions of people under control and held accountable for their actions. Without the organization many of these rules enforce upon a mass level, society would never be able to build the collective structures needed to ensure its long-term security and continuity. Saturn provides humanity with the materials required to create enduring frameworks for stable living. And by urging us to collect and sort out useful life experiences that seemingly get better with repetition (up to a point), Saturn gives birth to traditions and cyclic social rituals that we eventually cherish and depend on.
Oddly enough, the observance of holidays (as festive as some are) is tied in with Saturn, which in turn is linked to the predictable changes of the seasons. The observance of the passage of time and thus the aging process itself is also a Saturn theme. The regularity of our body clocks and the necessity of even using mechanical clocks are Saturn issues.
The list could go on and on regarding the things associated with this planet we earthlings need to function. Even dirt and the ground we walk on are Saturnrelated; we trust walking on the ground when it’s solid but universally fear it when it becomes as unstable as quicksand, thanks to Saturn. But this book isn’t about dirt, except for spilling the “dirt” on what life can be like when we mismanage our natal Saturn. We may overdo it, under-emphasize it, attempt to ignore it, or occasionally get it just right after many tries at bat. The key is not to ever quit swinging at the fast balls life pitches to us. But just don’t let the ball hit you and knock you down so many times. And always wear your safety helmet, for Pete’s sake!
One last thing: we have made in the last half of this century a welcomed attempt to redeem the Saturn principle (even if only to claim truth in saying “no pain, no gain” rather than ”lotsa pain, again and again”). Saturn is a planet that is looking out for our highest good at all times. It acts as our Cosmic Parent who prevents us from hurting ourselves any more than our own self-ignorance would r eadily allow. We often are stopped in our tracks, while we curse the Fates for being so cruel as to keep us from what we want now. But Saturn knows we will enjoy reaching our goals all the more at a later time, after we’ve pumped up our psychological muscles, gained needed spiritual weight, and developed a sturdy backbone of maturity to help us continue on our path to self-awareness. I say, “Good work, Saturn!”

The book was just as described, but when I got it, the chapters were shortened or something, because the one I read was different then this one. It was an older hard bound book, so that was kind of a bummer. But it came quick and I still enjoyed reading it and sharing it with friends.

This is a great work on Saturn! Traditionally, Saturn gets labeled as a malefic, but Tierney thankfully shows how working with Saturn energy brings great gifts. Tierney’s writing is clear, concise, and punctuated with just the right dose of humor. The book covers Saturn in signs, houses, and in aspect quite thoroughly. He offers practical insight for working with the configurations. This is a must for every astrology library.

I’m not a professional astrologer, as I mainly use books like these to see how accurate my own process is, as well as some friends. It’s always a good idea to be discriminate of “cookbook” types of astrology tools, however this book covers many basis about general applications of how Saturn may affect an individual’s chart, and how to navigate through them. Bil’s books are relatively informational, and this book particularly makes it easy to understand principles around Saturn. For a more complexed yet highly educational, include Liz Green’s Saturn book in your library. Both of these books helps to unify the governing patterns of Saturn in one’s life. And always remember, each chart and individual is highly unique, some intuition and communication is key!

This is a well-written book that covers lots of information. It is similar to the alive and well series about the outer planets. You will need to know the placement of Saturn in your chart however.

This is a great book to read to understand the placement of Saturn in your birth chart. The author goes into Saturn houses, signs, and Saturn returns.
Tierney has a sometimes humorous way of writing, which isn’t laugh out loud funny, but is engaging for the reading.

as a professional astrologer i have bought over 50 books on astrology from sacred traders. this is by far my favourite. he shows you how saturn is a blessing in disguise. it is well written and easy to understand (not full of mumbo jumbo that you finish reading and think.. what does that even mean!) i wish all my astrology books were written as plain and simple as bil tierney’s books!
