I thought this was going to provide step by step solutions. Being in a master program, this was on the list to purchase. Frankly, it’s been a waste of money since it takes additional time to understand this book in addition to my other finance book.
This would probably be a good book if it was being taught to you, but just to pick up and understand?? Unless you are heavy into financial management, Good Luck!

This was intended to be used as a companion book to my Finance text in graduate school. While it did provide some solutions, I wish it was more comprehensive and gave more step by step solutions.

If I could I would give this book zero (0) stars. This book was written by two PhDs one was a CPA), in its 2nd edition and is well organized. Although there is some very good information in it, I found calculation and formula errors. I was using the book for an online, college Time Value of Money class and the errors made my learning process a little harder. Because this is an outline type book and because it is in its 2nd edition, I didn’t expect to find any errors.

From a novice who wants an overview of what Financial Management is all about and what ALL it includes, along with solved problems, this book is a great reference. It is expected for you to know/understand the concepts, without much of visual aids. Because of its simplicity, it is also a good, quick reference desk copy. I plan to use the book at an undergraduate level (third and fourth year) in 2012. I have liked and used Schaum series book for decades.

This book is filled with so may practice examples. I was able to practice these problems before my midterm and the step-by-step instructions helped me understand the material. After using this resource, I got an A on my test and would recommend to any student in a Business Finance class, especially Grad students. Very helpful! Great buy!

I’ve used some version of this book in my corporate finance classes (graduate and undergrad) for almost 20 years now. It’s a comprehensive problem set, and it works with just about every finance textbook. This is the best review guide out there. And it’s cheap, too. I’ve gotten some real positive comments about this in my teaching reviews from students, too.
I think some folks may misunderstand the value of the book. It’s valuable because it helps YOU learn to work problems and gives YOU practice working problems and learning concepts in context. The focus is on YOU. YOU working problems. YOU applying concepts. Unfortunately, that seems to be missed by some.
This book has almost everything you need to learn the basics of finance at an undergraduate level. And it can’t hurt for those of you who are coming into an MBA or MS Finance program with a less-than-ideal background from your undergrad “experience.” A tremendous amount of knowledge per invested $.
